Retro Crush: Generationals

Spring is just around the corner and that means it’s time to update your playlists with some feel-good sunshine pop. We recommend Generationals, a lovely little New Orleans duo whom released their first studio album, Con Law back in 2009.  (Last Summer actually, but we’re still crushing on the album because it’s so good!)

From start to finish, Con Law is 10 solid tracks of pop perfection that spans several generations of popular music.  The fourth track (our fave), “When They Fight, They Fight” could easily be mistaken for The Shangri-Las or Lesley Gore for its sweet 60s girl-group harmonies, big horns, and handclapping. Then there’s the analog friendly “Our Time 2 Shine” that leads with its fuzzy organ sounds, followed by the electronic crunch in Bobby Beale” which reminds us of the synth-heavy 80s, a la Gary Numan.

So, whether it’s something old you’re looking for or something new, it’s clear that Generationals will be able to fill that void (or outdated playlist) and charm you with its modern retro pop.
