Despite the harsh criticism that the band has received for having an obvious penchant for Afro Pop, Vampire Weekend manages to soldier on with their eclectic sounds on their follow up release, Horchata. The new album builds on the band’s genre-spanning eccentricities with catchy numbers like California English and the infectious punk-pop track Cousins, proving that the critics’ ’Ivy League Preppies’ have avoided the sophomore slump.
